Hybrid Vs Enphase
Project type
Hybrid vs Micro Inverters
Date
1/9/2025
Location
Bridgend
The purpose of this case study is to show the difference between Micro Inverters vs a Hybrid System.
We have 2 customers who live 800 yards apart. They pretty much face the same direction between 20 to 25 degrees south. Both have 35 35-degree pitch roof. Both have 450 Watt Bifacial Panels.
What is the difference?
Guarantee. The hybrid system has a 12-year warranty, while the Enphase Microinverters come with a 25 Year Warranty.
Monitoring. Each string can monitor the hybrid system. Microinverters can be monitored on each panel
One Hybrid has a 10.24 kWh Battery, and the other has a 5.12 kWh battery. But this case study is not about battery storage, it is about solar Generation
Micro inverters have no single point of failure. This means if one breaks, the rest of the system works. With a Hybrid System, one part breaks it all goes down.
Microinverters are AC-coupled wires instead of DC. This makes wiring safer from fire. The microinverters can also be shut down at the panel level, because the microinverters are placed behind the panels.
SOLAR GENERATION
The Biggest difference is solar generation. This is massive. For reasons unknown, the majority of people buy goods based on price. Go on Facebook and look at the groups. Full of people asking Is this a price. Instead of saying Is this the best system that is going to save me the most money
Hybrid Inverters need 90watts of DC electricity before they start to convert the energy into AC Electricity. Microinverters are around 30 watts. More electricity in the morning and last thing at night. The work is Better in low light conditions.
Let's look at the data
